This document describes how to install DEBIAN Etch on an ovh.com hosted server.
Access the OVH web interface for management by typing on a browser:
https://www.ovh.com/managerv3/login.pl
Login with the username and password provided by OVH.
After logging in, choose the relevant server from the dedicated server list, by clicking on its name:
In this example will be using training2.switzernet.com. Click on “Services” and then on “Réinstaller / Changer d’OS” to go to the installation page.
Choose from the list “Système
d’exploitation Linux”, “Distribution de base”
and then “Système
d’exploitation Debian 5.0 (Lenny) ” 64
bits.
Choose the partitions size and type, if needed, or use the default configuration.
Confirm your partition table selection to start the installation.
The installation may take several minutes. After waiting for it to finish you should get the following message. An email with the accesses, login and password will be sent to the email account shown on this message.
Alternatively, you can get these information on the menu “Mes paramètres” and then on “Historique des emails” where you’ll find a copy of the sent email.
Choose the email from the list to access that information.

Create a ssh tunnel to the server. You can use Putty available at:
http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe
Write the domain name or the IP of the server where you want to connect as shown on the image below and click “Open”. When asked use the login and password sent on them email previously mentioned.
